The existing scenario of the country reflects the problems connected with youth; which manifest in many unlawful activities of the misguided youth. The immense resources of youth, if galvanized, can work as a major force of socio-economic change. It is therefore needed to create increasing opportunities for them to develop their personality and their functional capacity and thus make them economically productive and socially responsible.

The concept of government job for every individual has now become an illusion.So it is important to develop the personality of person in a proper way,which will empower him to face the risks & casualties of life with presence of mind rather than running away from it.With this view in mind the government of Kerala has given shape to a youth welfare board.

With the aim of empowering Kerala youth in overcoming challenges by inculcating anadventuristic attitude, National Adventuristic Academy has been operating at Devikulam in Idukki district and its sub-centre at Muzhuppilangad in Kannur district. Also with the aim ofproviding quality food and accommodation at reasonable rates to tourists,youth hostels are functioning at Veli in Thiruvananthapuram, at EastHill in Kozhikode & at Kakkanad in Ernakulam districts. The board aims to boost the pride and confidence of the youth of Kerala by shaping them up in the artistic, cultural and vocational fields. It plans to give orientation to the youth on all walks of social and cultural life. This will capacitate every single youth to function as a resource person, who will give information about the nook and corner of Kerala, its life, culture and activities, for those outside the state. The KSYWB will act as a platform of youth empowerment programmes for the youth of Kerala and equip them to find new opportunities globally.
